Azure & AWS Cost Optimization

Cloud bills grow quietly: oversized machines, idle environments, storage nobody owns. Our senior engineers find the Azure or AWS spend that isn't earning its keep and remove it, in your code and configuration, without putting reliability at risk.

Talk to an engineer

Key facts

Is this for you?

  • Your Azure or AWS bill has grown faster than your usage or your customers.
  • Finance asks what the cloud spend is for, and engineering can't easily answer.
  • Development and test environments run around the clock.
  • You've bought reservations or savings plans, but aren't sure they're the right ones.

The problem

Most cloud estates weren't designed to be expensive. They got that way one sensible decision at a time: a larger VM size to get through a busy week, a test environment that never got switched off, logs kept forever because nobody decided otherwise.

  • Nobody owns the bill end to end, so savings fall between teams.
  • Cost reports show where the money goes, but not what to change.
  • Engineers are wary of touching production to save money, and they're right to be careful.
The cost cycle we run with your team: see where the money goes, fix what's wasted, and keep it down.

Our approach

We treat cost as an engineering problem, not a finance report.

1. Assess

We review your Azure subscriptions or AWS accounts, resources, usage patterns and architecture, and talk to the people who run them. The result is a ranked list of savings, each with its effort and risk.

2. Fix

We make the changes with your team: right-sizing, scheduling, storage tiers, reservations and savings plans, and the architecture changes that remove cost for good. Every change is reviewed, tested and reversible.

3. Keep it down

We set up budgets, alerts, tagging and dashboards so new waste is visible early, and hand over a simple routine your team can keep running.

What we do

  • Right-sizing of virtual machines and EC2 instances, App Service plans, databases and Kubernetes node pools, based on real usage.
  • Scheduling non-production environments to switch off outside working hours.
  • Commitment planning: Azure Reservations and savings plans, or AWS Savings Plans and Reserved Instances, for the workloads that are steady.
  • Storage and data: access tiers, lifecycle rules, snapshot and backup retention, log and monitoring data volumes.
  • Architecture changes such as moving suitable workloads to serverless or containers, and removing duplicated services.
  • Cost visibility: tagging standards, budgets, alerts and dashboards per team, product or customer.

By the numbers

Hours a non-production environment runs each week
  • Always on: 168h
  • Weekdays, 07:00 to 19:00: 60h

Switching a development or test environment off outside a 12-hour weekday window cuts its running hours by 64%. For resources billed by the hour, such as virtual machines, compute cost falls in step.

What you get

  • A cost baseline: where the money goes, by team, product and environment.
  • A ranked savings plan, each item with its estimated saving, effort and risk.
  • The changes themselves, made through your pipelines and reviews, each with a rollback.
  • Reservation and savings plan recommendations sized from your real usage.
  • Tagging standards, budgets, alerts and cost dashboards.
  • A monthly cost review your team can run without us.

Results

  • A clear savings plan Every opportunity sized, ranked and agreed before anything changes.
  • Lower monthly spend Changes are made in your environment, not just recommended.
  • No surprises Budgets and alerts that flag new waste before the invoice does.
  • A team that owns it Documentation and a routine your engineers can run without us.

Engagement model

Most engagements start with a fixed-scope assessment, so you see the opportunities and the effort before committing further. From there we either implement the plan with your team as a project, or stay on to keep costs in check over time. We agree the scope, team and pricing model with you before work starts.

Your team

You work directly with senior cloud engineers who have built and run production systems on Azure and AWS, not with a reporting tool or a sales layer. One engineer is your main point of contact throughout.

Working hours

Our team works from Ho Chi Minh City (UTC+7). That's within an hour of Singapore and Malaysia, and gives four to five hours of shared working time with the Australian east coast every day. For clients in the US we agree an overlap window at the start and handle the rest asynchronously, with written updates.

Frequently asked questions

Will cutting costs affect performance or reliability?

It shouldn't, and we plan every change so it doesn't. We base sizing on measured usage, make changes in stages, and agree a rollback for each one before it goes live.

Do you need access to our production environment?

For the assessment, read-only access to cost and resource data is enough. For implementation we work with whatever access model your team is comfortable with, including making changes through your own pipelines and reviews.

We already use Azure Advisor or AWS Cost Explorer. What do you add?

Those tools show where the money goes and suggest generic changes. We work out which changes are safe for your workloads, make them in code and configuration, and fix the architecture choices that drive the cost in the first place.

How long does an assessment take?

It depends on the size of your cloud estate. We agree the timeline when we scope the assessment with you.
